GET STRONGER. MOVE BETTER. GROW TOGETHER.
Since 2016, we have been building a unique community of movers who are passionate about moving with more freedom and confidence, inside and outside the gym.
We make those seemingly impossible skills possible, whether you’re working on a deeper squat, advanced acrobatic movements, or faster, more agile reflexes.
Yogis come to us to get stronger and more agile.
Dancers come to us to gain power and test their skills.
Recovering and injured movers come to us to build more sustainable, resilient bodies.
Climbers come to us to train their minds, coordination, and flexibility.
CrossFitters and weightlifters come to us to move more fluidly.
Movement-curious adults come to us to bridge skill gaps to do the things they’ve always wanted to do.
more than a gym—movement education for life.
What Our Members Say
OUR classes & approach
-
Our mobility classes are great for beginners, students returning to movement after a break or an injury, and foundational training for all of our students. You’ll see a wide range of skill and age in the room.
Improve your flexibility, reduce stiffness, and move with more freedom in your body. Each class works through hips, spine, and shoulders using guided drills that build strength and your range of motion at the same time.
-
Our strength classes are designed to prepare your body for our ground movement and handbalancing classes.
Drawing from traditional weight training, gymnastics, and calisthenics, we focus on building strength in your arms, legs, and shoulders using both weights + accessories and organic movements. Before you know it, you’ll be landing handstands and cartwheels with ease and flow.
-
Explore moving in more organic ways and increasing your capacity to move in and out of the floor. It's a great way to add variety and a new challenge to your cross-training.
This class blends elements of locomotion, acrobatics, coordination drills, partner work, and improvisational tasks designed to expand your movement vocabulary, mental capacity, and awareness of your body in space.
-
Develop your ability to balance on your hands and gain shoulder strength and mobility. Classes are all-levels, and guided by our expert teachers who can give you the right cues for your level. Whether you’ve never been on your hands before or want to refine advanced skills, we have a proven system built on decades of experience to help you reach your goals.
-
We use games to help make increasing your agility, mobility, body awareness and capacity for learning new movements fun and challenging at the same time.
Based on research, the more we play, the easier it is to learn new concepts without self-judgment or limitation. Play increases creative problem-solving and decreases stress when learning new skills, helping you absorb and retain new knowledge more efficiently.
-
Our monthly Movement Athlete Series is a great way to work on fundamental conditioning, building agility, coordination, and strength. It’s a great way to cross-train and get started with us. You'll also get a strong intro to what we're about and our unique approach to a "movement practice," all in one class.
expert teachers and a community who cares
We aren’t a big box gym. We’re a small business where “community” means much more than a corporate buzzword.

Movement is a multidisciplinary, diverse approach to training drawing from many practices (martial arts, dance, gymnastics, and more) that goes beyond traditional fitness approaches.
Through movement, we aim to give you the tools to answer questions and solve problems in your daily life like:
How can I climb over this, or lift this object?
How can I move with more control?
What are my options to move around this obstacle?
What’s the best way to get up off the ground?
In what new, creative ways can I turn or spin?
-
Yes! For newcomers or folks who have been out of the game for a little while, our Mobility, Strength, or All-Levels Fundamentals classes are the best place to start.
These are some important foundational skills that are helpful benchmarks for our classes:
If these skills are without pain for you (a little discomfort is ok and natural with new movements), our classes are a great place to start.
Getting up from the floor without great struggle or pain
Kneeling on the floor for a few minutes at a time. Knee pads are welcome!
Putting some weight in your hands and wrists without pain
If you have questions about your specific situation or an injury, just reach out to us, and we can let you know if our practice is the right fit for where you are right now. We also offer 1:1 training sessions with our teachers to help get you started.
-
Many of our students come to Ape Co to balance out their training. We’re an amazing place to cross-train and diversify your skills as a mover. Whether you’re an athlete, dancer, martial artist, climber, or yogi—we will give you fresh tools to perform at a higher level and bridge skill gaps.
A few examples of how we help movers and athletes:
Yogis come to us to get stronger.
Dancers come to us to gain power and test their skills.
CrossFitters and weightlifters come to us to move more fluidly.
Climbers come to us to train their minds, coordination, and flexibility.

Not at all! If you are familiar, that’s amazing. Welcome home. If you aren’t familiar with our teachers or influences, that is where many of our seasoned students started. We call ourselves a movement school for a reason. You’re not expected to know everything on day one. Bring curiosity and an open mind, and you’ll go far. Many of our students have started with no athletic background to start, and over time grow into athletes of their own design.

Remember when you were a little kid and you used to get up and down from the floor all the time with ease? Ground movement and locomotion support mobility and strength training in a highly engaging way. You’ll train your joints, muscles, and mind from head to toe and every angle.
Ground movement blends elements of locomotion, acrobatics, coordination drills, partner work, and improvisational tasks designed to expand your movement vocabulary, mental capacity, and awareness of your body in space.
Locomotion is a system of specific movements and skills—from a low gait squat or duck walk to a cartwheel and Macao.
For new students, learning locomotion is like learning a new language. Specific skills become words that you can start to put together into sentences. Skills build on each other to give you more freedom to move through the world the way you want to.
Locomotion is inspired by movements from a variety of disciplines: dance, capoeira, yoga, martial arts, etc. The practice has been made most famous over the years by Ido Portal and other teachers in the field.

In any given class, you’ll receive ample 1:1 attention from expert teachers who deeply care about your goals and progress, and can help you develop a program that works for your level and current abilities. You’ll also often work in collaboration with other students who can help give you feedback and cues, as guided by our teachers in class.
