Boulder, CO
join us for A weekend that’s equal parts growth and play.
Review old movement concepts and experiment with new ones.
Expand your movement vocabulary and find more freedom to dance in your own unique ways.
from shai:
“This workshop will cover many topics that I have been exploring and sharing throughout the years with the Ape Co community.
We will bring them together into a rich, dynamic system that you can play with in a solo practice, as well as within a group constellation.”
Concepts we’ll explore:
Isolation: Work with isolating different parts of the body and putting them together in different ways.
Consonance and dissonance: Create a range of varied possibilities—connections and separations—from the smallest and most subtle ways of moving individual parts of the body to global movements where the whole body is included.
Time: Experiment with rhythm, voice, and timing to find new creative possibilities.
Space: Deepen spatial awareness while experimenting with falling, working with gravity, and the floor.
Improvisation and exploration: Integrate the material to find new ways to use the body, and ultimately create more freedom to find and choose your own way of dancing.
