Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL
what is your movement approach?
We are a community-focused movement gym offering all-levels group classes in strength training, mobility, handstands and more. Our practice draws from gymnastics, contemporary dance, martial arts, yoga and more. Our teachers have trained around the world learning the most innovative approaches to moving your body.
In our classes, you’ll move in new and diverse ways to develop strength, endurance, balance, flexibility, stability, and joint health. Moving in a variety of ways is more sustainable long-term, helps to prevent overuse injuries, and keeps your mind engaged and motivated to learn new skills and grow.
You’ll likely experience games, partner exercises, and moments of improvisation in class to help you push past skill gaps and milestones.
what can i expect in class?
In our classes, you can expect to challenge yourself in new ways appropriate for your level of experience and have fun, too. Typically, we start with a mobility or strength-focused warmup. Each class varies, though typically includes:
Locomotion: Moving in crawling and squatting patterns on the ground
Strength and Conditioning: Developing strength, endurance, agility, balance, stability, and joint health
Acrobatics and Handbalancing: Learning the basics of cartwheels, handstands and soft acrobatics
Hanging: Increasing your strength and building spine & joint health
Movement Puzzles and Games: Improving your body awareness and capacity for learning new movements. Based on research, the more we play, the easier it is to learn new concepts without self-judgment or limitation
I’m not very flexible/strong/mobile. can i come to class?
Yes! Our Foundational Movement Practice cohort is a great place to start. We support movers at all levels who want to feel good, sweat, laugh and make those seemingly impossible skills possible. Our teachers are world-class, supportive and here to help you achieve your movement goals no matter where you are in the journey. If you have questions about your specific situation or an injury, just reach out to us.
how much 1:1 attention do students receive?
In any given class, you’ll receive ample 1:1 attention from expert teachers who deeply care about your goals and progress, and can help you develop a program that works for your level and current abilities. You’ll also often work in collaboration with other students who can help give you feedback and cues, as guided by our teachers in class.
do you have open gym hours?
Currently, this is not something we offer to new students unless there is a senior student or teacher present at the facility. Sometimes, you’ll see our senior students in the gym when there is not a class on the schedule, but this is only available on a case-by-case basis. If you have specific questions about open gym for your schedule or needs, just reach out.
do you offer a free trial class?
At this time, our new student deals include a discounted drop-in class for $25 (usually $35), a 3-class pack for $59 or an unlimited week of classes for $99.
For the best way to get a full picture of what we do, we strongly recommend joining our next Foundational Movement Practice cohort. You’ll get 8 semi-private foundational classes over 4 weeks for only $99. These classes are specifically designed for beginner or refresher students to help you build a foundation for your mobility, joint health, strength and flexibility.
If that still isn't what you are looking for, feel free to come by one of our locations and observe a class, or contact us to learn more.

when/how often do the cohorts run?
Our Foundation Movement Practice cohorts typically run monthly at both locations, except for December. Usually, cohorts start the first week of the month, though check here for the next cohort dates and weekly class schedule.
can i attend other fmp classes at a different location/time?
Overall, we recommend attending your chosen cohort location and time so that you have a consistent community of support, though with your FMP cohort purchase, you are welcome to try out both locations. Speak with your cohort teacher or reach out here if you have any specific questions.
i want to join a cohort but can’t attend all 8 classes. can i still join?
Yes! Just contact us and we will work with you to set up make-up classes or design a program that will work best for your schedule.
could i try a few classes before i jump into the cohort?
Yes, you can book drop-in classes. Try a 3-class pack for the best value! We recommend starting off with a Foundational Movement Practice, Handstands or Strength class. Because the scope of our offering is so diverse, we recommend taking a few classes to give you the best understanding of what we do.
