Content:
"To express oneself honestly, not lying to oneself - that, my friend, is very hard to do..." - Bruce Lee

Movement Archery is a unique journey that explores the art of motion, weaving together principles from martial arts, contemporary dance, acrobatics, partnering, and introspective practices. The workshop is structured around four foundational parts, creating a versatile base for physical exploration and creative expression.

1) Warm-Up
Our warm-up practice goes beyond physical preparation; it centers on harmonizing breath and movement. Drawing from Chi Kung, Tai Chi Chuan, and Shadow Yoga, it emphasizes subtle awareness and activation, especially of the often-overlooked legs. Circular and spiral motions encourage fluidity, while focused attention on the wrists and neck enhances balance and spatial sensitivity, creating a receptive state that prepares participants for both inner and outer movement and exploration.

2) Creativity and Improvisation
Our improvisation method, Clean Paper, uncovers each participant's authentic movement language. This approach emphasizes process over outcome, allowing participants to embrace limitations and enjoy challenges without pressure for specific results. Clean Paper supports artistic growth, making it accessible to all, regardless of age or experience, fostering adaptability and genuine expression.

"You have to practice improvisation, let no one kid you about it! But it’s like any discipline; it helps you to be free when you perform." – Benny Goodman (The King Of Swing)

3) Partnering
If dancing alone is a relationship with imagination, partnering is a relationship with reality. Participants learn to respond to subtle cues from others, developing adaptability and sensitivity. In this context, partnering is both a technical and relational practice, encouraging individuals to balance personal expression with collaborative dynamics.

4) Technique
Our technical approach acts as a “risk management” framework, nurturing freedom by integrating actions like falling, rolling, and flipping into a seamless, expressive movement vocabulary. This method blends acrobatics with daily motions, and go further than structured routine or choreography. It develops a state of readiness, empowering practitioners to engage in movement with a childlike curiosity, resilience, and a sense of calm that enhances both artistic expression and daily life.
